How
Do I Get There? If you're
curious about how many routers you pass before you finally reach a
destination Web site or other TCP/IP host, run the Trace Route utility
included with Windows Networking. It's interesting to see how many
hops (router crossings) it takes to get to a site on the opposite coast
or elsewhere. But Tracert.exe is useful for other
things as well. It's a helpful tool for determining slow links and Web
sites that might be down.
Open Command Prompt and type 'TRACERT'
and the address you are connected to. This shows you all of the servers
that you are connected through, with response times. |
