• Look at the Histogram (Ctrl > L)
• Ctrl > Shift and L
  or Image > Adjustments > Auto Levels
• Look at theirs Histograms
  How has the histogram changed after applying Auto Levels?

1. Images autolevels4 will require more adjustments:
   Ctrl > L or Image > Adjustment > Levels and reduce "tails" of highlights and shadows manually

Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast

To examine applied changes, hold Ctrl key and hit Z repeatedly.  During examination make sure that your are in 100% magnification by double clicking inside Zoom Tool.

1. Image > Adjustments > Color Balance

• Open image: colorbalance1.jpg
• Image > Adjustments > Color Balance...
• Ctrl > Z (Edit > Undo)

Notice which colours are opposite to each other.

2. Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

• Open images: hue1-2.jpg
• Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation...
• Set Hue to +20 and Saturation to -20
• Click OK
• Ctrl > Z, Z, Z
  
  Hue also allows you to adjust color selectively by changing "Master" to desired color.
• Open images blue1-3.jpg
• Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation...
• Desaturate blue only (move handle to the left)
• Adjust (reduce) Lightness

• Image > Image Size... > and set Width to e.g. 600 pixels (for e-mail)
  Note: Make sure "Constrain Proportion" is checked.
• File > Save As... > click on Create a New Folder button, name it 4email, and save it as Medium quality .jpg to c:\4email or c:\My Documents\My Pictures\4email

1 . Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen

• Open image autolevels1.jpg
• Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen
• Ctrl > Z (Edit > Undo)

2. Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask...

• Open image autolevels1.jpg
• Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen > Unsharp Mark...
• Ctrl > Z (Edit > Undo)
