Stroking a selection or layer with color
You can use the Stroke command to paint a colored border around a selection, layer, or path. This allows you to create a softer border.

You can use the Stroke layer effect when you want to stroke the entire layer.

  1. Open document travel.jpg from stroke folder
  2. Type "My holiday in Thailand"
  3. Create a new layer:  Layer > New > Layer
  4. With rectangular marquee draw a button like box around text.
  5. Edit > Stroke or Right Click inside the box outline. This brings up a Dialog Box. Select Stroke...
  6. Ctrl > D to deselect
  7. In the Stroke Dialog Box experiment with pixel width and color of the line which will form the Box.
  8. Apply shadow to the layer (choose Inner and Outer shadow, Bevel and Emboss): Layer > Layer Style > Drop Shadow...
  9. Click OK
